We were introduced in 1984 by Mary Norris, a Round Dance leader in Houston, TX. We both loved dancing and eventually discovered we had a lot of other things in common. We married in 1985 and began cueing/instructing in 1986. Our first set of beginner lessons was for the Sugar Land Parks and Recreation departments Leisure Learning program. Two years later, SugaRounds was formed.
We have had the pleasure of cueing and teaching at many Square and Round Dance events in Houston and surrounding areas. We have taught at many Texas State Festivals and the National. We also enjoyed serving on the teaching staff in Red River, NM for 10 years. We hosted a popular Round Dance Festival, Septemberation, for sixteen, wonderful years. Today, most of our attention is to the members of SugaRound's.
We are currently members of the Houston Square and Round Dance Council, Texas Teacher RDC, Dixie RDC, Round A Lab and URDC. Though we both work full time. we also attend as many Festivals as possible. In this way, we strive to stay on top of the newest figures and dances so that we are able to pass it on to the dancers.
